I was playing @ a Lounge in Destin, when in walked Cheryl & Denny Jones with my pal Paul Andre. The trio of pals sat in with our guitarist Pat Boone. The soul absolutely blew me away. I enjoy having fellow musicians share in the harmony on stage.
I hung out with my pal Mike Turner from "Mike & the Micros", who plays keyboards @ AJ's Bimini bar. Go check them out 4-8 pm & be prepared to hit the dance floor. Great bunch of musicians, Mike Turner, Jim Fuller, John Hoorman, & Tim Prescott, who always keep the crowd jumping. Go see them & get rocked. A.J.'s offers casual dining @ it's best with spectacular views of the Destin Harbor from the outdoor "Bimini Bar". With an outstanding band like "Mike & the Micros", hot food, cold beverages & panoramic views of the harbor, what more do you need to enjoy your afternoon, as the sunsets on Destin?
I played with Jabbo aka Ricky Parsons the other night @ Pandora's. He was as colorful as always & what a phenomenal player he is. Catch Jabbo playing & be prepared to be moved & grooved. The food at Pandora's is excellent & always a palette pleaser, regardless of what you order. Pandora's is located on 30A in Grayton Beach @ the 4 way stop (there's only one LOL).
Lisa & I went to "Old Florida Fish House", on 30A in Seagrove, for some excellent food & great music. The seafood platter was a hefty portion of veggies, fried seafood, fries on a bed of julienne fried onions, accompanying a crisp light salad. Lisa had fried green tomatoes topped with crab meat & a Jumbo bowl of gumbo. "The Fish House" band, consisting of Tim Jackson, Jeffrey Mc Bride & Ike Bartley, were kickin' as always. Jefferey's rendition of "At Last" was off the charts. The beer is ice cold & they have a nice wine selection. We had a blast & you should go there to have a great meal, then scoot over to the lounge & hear funky music from some star players.
Lisa & I dined @ J.C.'s Off the Hook, in Blue Mtn. Beach, on 30A. Well dined is to refined a word, how about chowed down? We enjoyed crispy fried green beans & fried sweet potatoes (bad to the bone), Blackened Grouper, Grilled Mahi -Mahi & Grilled shrimp. The grouper was not dry (very important) & it was spiced to please. Everything was very appetizing. Our plates were clean as a whistle, that tells the tale. Be prepared for the noise, lots of families with lots of kiddos. Great food in a casual family dining atmosphere.
The New Bayou Bill's on 98, one mile past 30A, is a delight for Fried Green Tomato lovers. Can You say YUM? Blackened Yellow Fin Tuna, Grilled shrimp, crunchy Fried Green Tomatoes, Home Fries & hushpuppies. Ice coldfresh Sweet tea is a must round to out this meal. Funky decor & a pleasant wait staff convinced us to frequent this establishment more often. Lisa says weekly, but that's because she burns herself in the kitchen & her "kitchen fairy" never shows up for work.
We met some friends @ "Harbor Walk" in Destin, to hear "Flash Flood", they play @ "Harry T's". Rusty, Tim, Binky & the gang are consistently cranking out the latest hits & your faves from the 80's & 90's as well. Nobody does Journey like Rusty & the guys. The seafood nachos are a show stopper. Stop by & tell them "The Son o' the Beach" & his "Beach Wife" sent you. They'll treat you right.
"Shades @ the Loop" in Rosemary Beach has a wide variety of ice cold brews, over 35 @ the last count. John Freer & Joe Freer, the owners are Super guys, who make sure your dining & wining experience is a pleasure. The seafood pizza is excellent as is the spinach salad with fresh bacon & raspberry vinaigrette! The Beach Wife aka Lisa loves them both. I personally love everything they serve. Try a different beer each time you go!
"The Copper Grille" is an exquisite dining experience, that everyone should enjoy. "The Copper Grille" is located in Miramar Beach, before the Silver Sands Outlet Mall. Amazingly thick Cowboy sized steaks & nothing on this menu will leave you disappointed. Trust me I know quality & "The Copper Grille" is known for their fresh ingredients & quality service. The wine list is Primo Vino according to The Beach Wife & her Beach Posse friends.
